Director/Cinematography/Editor: Matt Heirakuji

Featuring: Alicia Eunhae Kelley
Who is Alicia:
Alicia Eunhae Kelley is a bubbly, talented, driven 19 year old with a bright future. Recently out of high school she has been navigating the adult world while still pursing her passion of surfing.
How did this get made:
With the help from the team at Shibby Stylee and a couple lucky mornings of weather, we were able to get the shots necessary to produce this edit while making sure it represented Alicias personality. We shot this using 2 RED cameras, Movi pro, Dji inspire, and salty surf waterhousing for the cameras.
What inspired this video:
Both Alicia and I have a strong connection and love for the ocean and so it only made sense to incorporate it as much as possible. This is also the second edit I’ve made with her and we wanted to incorporate more lifestyle elements versus a surf heavy edit like the first one.
What was it like working with Alicia:
Working with a young, energetic, and very hyper young girl can be difficult. Lucky for us Alicia is extremely mature for her age and complimented with a strong work drive. We had some early mornings and she was still able to execute everything we asked of her.
What was the hardest thing to film:
The hardest thing to film for this edit was the surf scenes. Letting go of control is hard to do whenever you deal with water. It always makes what you want to do a little more difficult. It limits your mobility and shooting capabilities depending on where you’re shooting. Also when trying to get surf shots, a lot of it depends on the conditions and the surfer and if one of the two doesn't line up there a lot of moments that can be missed.
What would you change:
Not shooting surf in town during winter
What was the best behind the scenes moment:
Tripping out together with the crew on how amazing the weather was when were shooting. Benefits of waking up early!
